ABOUT

Seaside Nursery School was established in 1974.  It has grown from a 2 room nursery school to a 6 classroom preschool nurturing children from toddler to transitional kindergarten.  We have proudly seen generations of families come through our doors.

LOCATION

Seaside Nursery School is located in the heart of Marblehead. It is nestled in Seaside Park and surrounded by acres of wooded space with trails that lead to a beautiful overlook of Marblehead harbor and the ocean.  This provides for hours of adventures for our students and teachers.

CLASSROOMS

We have 6 classrooms at Seaside which include: Toddler, Transitional Preschool, Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten.  Each classroom is set up in a “center-based” fashion to include a book area, science area, dramatic play area, art area, large and small blocks, sensory table, and a variety of manipulative materials and games.

Curriculum Materials / Books

Seaside has a resource room available for the teachers. It offers materials for a multitude of curriculum ideas and bucketsful of books organized by authors, themes, seasons, holidays, etc.

PLAYSCAPES

Our school has its own play yard which houses a play structure, sand box area, ride-on toys and plenty of room to run. It is sheltered under a canopy of mature trees.  In addition, we have the pleasure of using the surrounding woods and greenspace of Seaside Park.  Part of the daily routine for our older students is to take a hike each day and enjoy the beauty of nature. Hikes during the different seasons opens the door to endless conversations, lessons, and experiences. It has proven to be an invaluable mindfulness experience for the children and teachers alike.

ENRICHMENT

A few of the other enriching activities that we do each year at Seaside are:  

  • Hatching chicks in the spring – the anticipation during the 21-day incubation is so worth it when the sweet chicks hatch.  
  • We also learn about the life cycle of butterflies – from caterpillars to the beautiful butterflies that we set free in the field.
  • We end each school year with an amazing Art Show as well and a fun filled Field Day
